Dr. Estrada is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Animal Sciences at North Carolina A&T State University. She is a young Animal Scientist with extensive experience in small rumiant production, animal immunology, animal genetics and animal sciences. She received her PhD in Animal Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Florida and completed 2 years of Post-doctoral training at the University of California Davis and Fort Valley State University. Previous research conducted by Dr. Estrada allowed the identification of potential genetic markers associated with parasite resistance in small ruminants. She has published alongside her research collaborators in the International Journal for Parasitology, BMC Genomics, Parasite Immunology and the Journal of Animal Science. Her current research work focuses on unraveling the epigenetics underlying parasite resistance in sheep from the Southern region and it is supported by Evans-Allen funding (241078). In addition to this, Dr. Estrada Reyes is an active member of the American Consortium for Small Ruminant Parasite Control.
