Jake Thorne is an Extension Sheep and Goat Specialist and Research Scientist for Texas A&M AgriLife in San Angelo, Texas. Jake actively conducts extension education and outreach targeted toward Texas producers in the areas of parasite control and genetic selection and manages the Texas A&M Fecal Egg Counting service lab at the AgriLife Center. Additionally, he maintains an active small ruminant parasite research program, with a particular interest in developing breeding and management strategies to improve resistance in breeds notably susceptible to Haemonchus contortus. Jake received his BS and MS from Texas A&M University and his PhD at the University of Idaho with a focus on sheep genomic technology.
